Historic Rally Festival – Weston Park, October 2023

This weekend we attended the Historic Rally Festival at Weston Park, displaying our MK1 Ford Escort Mexico and MK2 Ford Escort Mexico on the Oval Owners Club / South Staffs RS Owners Club stand…

To say it was a wet-one would be a bit of an understatement, but in true rally fashion this made things all the better for spectators as over one-hundred classic and retro rally cars took to the slippy special stages of Hatton Grange & Weston Park over the weekend.

We’ve been into rallying since we were kids and have been taking an active part in the sport for over twenty years, but even for us we have to say it was bloody impressive… I can’t remember seeing so many stunning ex-works rally cars in one place for a long time – and what cars they were; from and Ex-works MK1 and MK2 Escorts through to 90’s Group A Cosworth’s and Escort WRC’s, with loads of incredible Group B machinery thrown in for good measure!

What’s more, it was all very well organised to ensure it was a great ‘day out’ for all who attended with good close parking, great static car displays, easy viewing of special stages and loads of cracking Motorsport trade stands to browse around between stages.

To top it off, you were never too far away from a toilet and the amount of footstalls on offer was pretty impressive; we had vegetable samosas and chicken tikka bites from one of the Asian food stalls and they were excellent!

Top marks to to Darren Fox and his team for putting on a cracking event… we will definitely be back next year!
