It’s amazing what you can find online… Paul (brother) recently found this advert in Evening Sentinel archives, from when I sold my first MK2 Escort back in the day!
I bought the car off Paul when I was 16, circa 1988, as an unfinished project in order that he could buy his first MK1 Mexico! I had the MK2 for a couple of years and with his help completed the build giving it a full respray and adding all the bits to make it a MK2 Mexico replica.
I sold it for £1,250 and then bought my first MK1 Mexico – the first of many fast Fords!
The only downside was that the lad who bought it managed to roll it into a field about a month later and it set on fire – a total write-off… A great shame after all the time and effort we put into building it.
Certainly brought back a few memories, had some great times in the car!
