This Ford Escort RS Turbo S2 on Collecting Cars is a fantastic throwback to the 1980s, presenting in restored condition and with a recent clean MOT certificate. The car’s interior presents well, and following a full exterior repaint and mechanical refresh, this exciting performance car is ready to relish on the road once again…

CONDITION

• The bodywork and paint is reported to be in excellent condition, following a photographically documented bare-metal respray. The car is also HPI clear.
• Prior MOT tests from more than five years ago indicated corrosion to the chassis and underside, which is to be expected for a Ford of this age, and which was evidently rectified as part of the refurbishment.
• The car’s Radiant Red paint is clean with no decals, allowing the next owner to add period-correct elements if desired.
• The car rides on original six-spoke 15-inch RS alloy wheels, which were refurbished when the bodywork was repainted.
• Inside, the cabin presents well. The Recaro sports seats are in very good condition, having been re-trimmed during the restoration process. The is some fading present on the interior plastics, and wear on the driver’s door card.
• The steering wheel, gear shifter, and handbrake are all in reasonable condition given their age – though the vendor does note that the plastic surrounding the gear lever, and some of the interior plastics may benefit from replacement.
• There are no known faults with the car, and no warning lights on the dashboard.
• The most recent MOT test was on 20 March 2021 at a reported 90,011 miles where the car received a clean pass with no advisories.
• There is a mileage discrepancy with the car. The car’s five figure odometer reads 24,730, but the correct figure is not known. The vendor believes it may be approximately 90,000 miles.

SERVICE HISTORY

• The latest service was carried out during September 2020 at 62,936 miles by Kingshill Service Centre. The work comprised of an oil and filter and a coolant and brake fluid change. New coolant hoses, brake master cylinder, fuel tank and windscreen wipers were also fitted at this time, as well as an exhaust system repair.
• The vendor reports that in 2004 the cam belt was changed at 74,000 miles by Michael Bartle Motor Services. In 2006, Kent cams were fitted, and the oil and spark plugs were changed, again at Michael Bartle Motor Services. In 2008, the car received a full set of new brake discs and pads at North Nibley Garage in Gloucester.
• The seller notes further work on the car which includes a bare-metal respray, retrimmed seats, and replacement of the clutch, gearbox and flywheel. The vendor notes that the reconditioned gearbox is still under warranty.
