1973 MK1 Ford Escort 1300 XL

“For sale we have my 1973 MK1 Ford Escort 1300XL. 3 former keeps from new with only 69k miles on the clock. A great runner, a very rare solid car.

First registered on 1st August 1973. The earliest history I personally have was that the car was purchased from Hartford Motors (Banbury) in October 1974 by a Mr John Perry. The car was kept in the same ownership until 2015 when it was purchased by his neighbour. I acquired the vehicle August 2017.

The car was already in great condition when I purchased it. However the following jobs, in addition to regular servicing have been completed over the last 6 years.
Removal of electrical washer pump and installed an original washer bottle
Removal of electronic ignition and reinstated traditional points, distributor etc.
New coil, plugs etc
New solenoid fitted
New tires all round, including spare
Carbs professionally rebuilt
K&N cleanable air filter fitted
Seats professionally re-foamed, springs tightened and repaired in places owning to a previous bad repair
New carpets fitted
Rear seatbelts fitted
New parcel shelf
Clutch cable replaced
New break shoes all round”…
