1972 Ford Escort Group 4 Historic Rally Car
1972 Ford Escort Group 4 Historic Rally Car Supplied new by Lloyds of Stafford Rallye Sport Dealer as a Mexico on the 2nd of August 1972.
The car then went back to Lloyds for conversion to a Rally car this involved the fitting of the GP4 Wheel arches World Cup suspension and cross member a Rocket gearbox Atlas rear Axle with a Salisbury LSD the engine was changed to Lotus Twincam the car was campaigned through to 1976 at which time it sustained damage to the Nearside front the car was retired the shell was repaired and put into storage until 2003
When it came out of storage a decision made to make it Group 4 the engine being replaced with a Genuine Ford Holbay unit known as the 275 to meet Homologation requirements with a Cosworth crank Carlillo rods Forged Pistons and fully rebuilt cylinder head by Coltec, a Chassis mounted World Cup cross member Quaiffe Pro Rocket 4 Speed box Works spec disc brakes Atlas Axle a Pro wiring loom by SMS Perspex Windows Alloy fuel tank, Twin Facet fuel pumps adjustable pedal box AP front brakes AP rear calipers plus AP hand brake calipers works 5 link rear Axle Bilstein adjustable front struts Bilstein rears Single leaf rear springs. The Dash has a GPS Stack Speedo with Stack Rev counter. The car has just had a complete repaint inside and out to Works BP Colour scheme and will come with current MSA papers the seats are New Cobra Suzuka along with the extinguisher system belts etc in all a fresh MK1 Escort ready for Action.
